How Much Space Does A Music Video Take Up On An Ipod Nano?

I am going to add some video to my ipod nano with ipodlinux. I wonder how much space the video will take up. How much space will, say, a music video take up on my ipod nano? The same amount as the file of the video? If so, can I somehow compress that to make it take up less space?
